Building the firing mechanism
Easter Camp was a great opportunity to learn about camping over a weekend in preparation for Summer Camp. This was particularly useful with so many new Scouts joining the Troop recently, and with most of them never having camped before.

Once at Lyons Copse the Scouts had to pitch their tents before it got dark, so they had somewhere warm and dry to sleep and store their kit. They also had to ensure they had enough wood to keep their fires going when cooking their meals.

On Saturday afternoon the Scouts were given a selection of staves and a pile of rope and were set the challenge of building a catapult in their separate patrols. The winning team managed to launch the foam ball a full pace further than their closest rival.

Saturday evening saw the obligatory campfire, with its songs, stories and sketches, run by our very own special guest entertainer.

Sunday morning saw a layer of ice coating all the tents, but after a hearty breakfast of bacon sandwiches the Scouts set to work striking camp in record time. Overall it was a successful camp, which everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy.
