Families day in full swing
The families day was a big success! This year we invited the Scouts and their families for a day on the water. Many took us up on the offer and enjoyed sailing, kayaking, pulling and power boating by Portchester Castle. Parents and siblings got the chance to learn a few of the things the Scouts have been taught throughout the year, while seeing the castle and surrounding shore from a different perspective.

The day was hastily organised after the disappointing news that Testwood Regatta had been cancelled. This was due to the volume of cynanobacteria in their lake. Testwood Regatta is an annual event that's popular with Scouts and parents alike. It involves pulling, canoeing and kayaking races throughout the day and we usually run a barbecue for lunch.

The families day was a more relaxed event, however there were a couple of friendly pulling and kayaking races. Most of the day involved having a go at different activities, learning some new things and exploring our local waters. There was even a picnic on shore to enjoy.
