Gliding 2017

posted 3 Sep 2017, 09:14 by Zak Warren
Twelve bold Scouts ventured to Daedalus airfield for a unique adventure: gliding high above The Solent! Ellen MacArthur Troop are regular visitors to the airfield and this was the fifth year that Portsmouth Naval Gliding Centre kindly took us up for a try-flight.

Some of the Scouts were lucky enough that this was their second go. The others were a bit more nervous as it was their first time in a glider. Many of them even had the chance to take the controls of the glider and learn a few maneuvers! Not only that, but the Scouts got to achieve their Air Activities badge in a unique way.

The weather was so good, and the evening stayed light for so long, that even some younger siblings (including one Beaver Scout!) and parents got to have a go!
