Enjoying some SUPing
The Scouts were keen to have a go at stand up paddleboarding. SUPing is also one of the fastest growing outdoor activities in the UK, so we thought we'd see what all the fuss is about.

We met on the banks of the River Hamble on a sunny September evening. Here the instructors took us through the basics before letting us get on the water. The Scouts took a few tentative paddle strokes while kneeling down, then jumped to their feet and were away. Even a couple of us Leaders had a go!

We were taken on a short tour of a historic section of the river, while being put through our paces at paddling and balancing. There was also a short game of raft running, which resulted in a couple of people falling in! As a paddlesport, it ticks off some parts of the Paddlesport Staged Activity Badge

It was only a short taster session, but Scouts and Leaders alike have expressed enthusiasm at having another go!
